I can tell you all about what's going on in the world of FIRST in Colorado, and you can tell me all about what you think of it!

 

The really BIG news for on this third week-end in February is the FRC robotics championship coming up in about 5 weeks at DU!  Any of you that have been part of FIRST in Colorado for more than a year may know that the FRC Colorado Regional has been held at DU for the last 5 years.  This is the contest for the Classic FIRST Robotics Challenge - the games that started it all for FIRST 19 years ago.  These robots play on a basketball court size field - well, ok, it's actually DU's hockey arena!  But there are pits, competitions, aliances, sweet 16 and final four, awards, video, music, crowds, cheering etc.

 

Of course, FLL will be there, too!  Our top two Championship winners are invited to come demo their bots, run some practice runs, compete head to head even!  And of course, check out the big bots and see how the high school teams do it!

 

The event is held at DU from Thursday Mrach 26 through Saturday the 28th.  Admission is always FREE, and it's a great celebration of upcoming scientists and engineers. 

 

Of course, the very best way to get enjoy this type of event is to GET INVOLVED, so please, consider volunteering to support the event in some capacity - judges and referees are always needed, but there are plenty of other jobs too!  Check out the web site at
