Lego Mindstorms (RCX's) - yes that's when I and my son got involved...

Steve (my son) and Stephen (me) really enjoy LEGO's.  We especially like building the really large models.  We built our collection in the very early days of LEGOs appearing on eBay when one could still get better than retail (sometimes 50% of...) deals.  This doesn't seem to happen much any more. <sigh>

I joined LUGNET early on and track our sets there.  I was also involved for a time in helping develop the BrickOS multi-tasking OS / C++ development environment for the RCX's.  During this time we played with a lot of puchased but-custom sensors (input multiplexers, etc.)

As Steve got into highschool he developed a talent for photography.  Near this time my employer (an FLL sponsor) posted ads in our workplace which I followed and became an FLL volunteer and have been each year since.  I shortly thereafter invited steve to volunteer with me.  (One example of Steve's pictures from last season.)

Our volunteering each year with FLL is due to this wonderful confluence of events and Interests and is a great source of enjoyment each year.  Our first year was two events, last year was three events... oh, and some rookie training... are we doing four this year?   I guess we'll find out!  I'm sure we'll see you there, right!  :-)
