The Colorado FLL 2015-Trash Trek Qualifier at Central High School Event Day Details:


Directions to School:


From Interstate 70, take Exit 37 and stay on the I-70 Business loop.  Turn right on 32 Rd, then turn right onto Hall Rd.  Then turn right onto the frontage road that follows along the I-70 business loop.  Turn right onto Warrior Way, and you will run right into the school.


Access and Parking:


There is ample parking in front of Central High School.  There is an unloading zone in front of the school and also a driveway that circles around the back of the school with an entrance at the back of the cafeteria as well.

Attached is a map with marked room numbers. This will be available at check-in on Saturday morning and during set-up on Friday evening. 




FLL Qualifier Schedule for the Day:

 ·      6:45-7:30 - Volunteer Check-in.  If you have not completed a CONSENT & RELEASE form online during team registration, BRING YOUR SIGNED CONSENT AND RELEASE FORMS: English/Spanish, one for every participant.

·      7:30-8:00 - Volunteer Briefing (Volunteer Break Room).

·      8:00-8:30 - Judge’s Meeting (Room 110) and Referee Meeting (Competition Tables, Robot Games Arena in the Old Gym).

·      8:00-8:30 - Coach/Team check-in the school lobby, settle into your pits in the cafeteria.  BRING YOUR SIGNED CONSENT & RELEASE Forms, one for EVERY PARTICIPANT, COACH, or TEAM MEMBER!

·      8:30 – Kick-off and Announcements (Chris Williams)

·      8:45 - Judge and referee calibration (practice runs) (between 4 and 7 teams, depending)

·      9:00-11:40 - Judging: Teamwork, projects, technical interviews, refer to your own team’s schedule for exact completion times and room assignments (detailed Team Schedules will be found on the team’s page.)

·      11:30-12:15 - Lunch in the cafeteria/pit area. 

·      11:40 - Judge’s deliberation begins (Rooms 107 and 105)

·      12:15-12:20 - Competition Rounds Opening Ceremony (Old Gym)

·      12:20-2:10 - Robot Competition Matches (Please review the Code of Conduct expectations below.)

·      2:20 – 3:00 – Special Recognition Award Deliberation (Judges).  The Hi Fives, FRC team 4944 will do a robot presentation.

·      2:45-3:00 - Clean up pits, entertainments, etc.

·      3:15-4:00 - Awards.


Code of Conduct:

You WILL BE tested on this during CORE VALUES judging!!


·      NO EXTRA COMPETITION TABLES!!!!  Do NOT bring your FLL table to any Qualifier Event unless you’ve made previous arrangements with the Tournament Director.  

·      Please bring your own mats and FSK for practices.  We will have available tables not mats or FSK kits!

·      Know your FLL CORE VALUES!!  Check the first page of the coach’s handbook.  This year’s judging puts special emphasis on CORE VALUES.

·      Know what GRACIOUS PROFESSIONALISM means, and be prepared with examples of how your team has behaved in this manner. 

·      Adults-kids learn by example!! Teach them to do as you do!! Please review the code of conduct and expectations before you come.


Visitors and Guests:

·      All visitors and guests are welcome.

·      Admission to the tournament is FREE!  Please wear comfortable clothing-especially to the pits and teamwork judging.  Families and guests are welcome in the activity and presentation judging rooms, but PLEASE RESPECT THE JUDGING PROCESS and keep your numbers and distraction to the teams at a minimum!



·      Support the Grand Junction Hi-Fives Robotics team with your pizza order.  Pizzas are $8 each (Cheese & Pepperoni) Pre-order your pizza through  Astrid Stoye at abstoye@aol.com

·      There will be donuts and coffee for sale in the cafeteria in the morning, and snacks, drinks, and popcorn for sale outside of the Old Gym during the competitions. 



·      Our tournament will advance two team to the State Championship and Award first place trophies for each of the core categories. 

·      There will be one Champion’s Award winner.  By definition, Champion teams will advance to the Central Colorado Championship.  Other teams advancing to championship will be judged for overall achievement by their merit in all judged areas and robot performance.  Their robot must score in the top half of the field. 

·      Most of all, let’s make this the best Qualifier experience ever!! Have fun and take away a wonderful and rewarding experience!!


Volunteer Details:

 ALL VOLUNTEERS: The day is finally upon us!!  Teams have been toiling tirelessly for their tribulation and triumph on this day. 


·      If you did not complete your CONSENT & RELEASE forms on-line during registration, PLEASE bring current and completed Consent & Release forms with you.  This really speeds up the check-in process!!

·      Please report to Central High School between 7 am to 7:25 AM (Unless you are assigned to check-in, in which case we need you there no later than 6:45 am please.)

·      A listing of the volunteer assignments is linked here.  If your position is not specified, please check-in from 7 to 7:30 and we will let you know your assignment.
